Add a new decision maker to a Zoho CRM deal

The Zoho CRM AI Assistant finds or creates the contact for a new person in the decision, such as a CFO or procurement, and links them to the deal with the contact role you name. It adds a note and writes it all once you approve.

Zoho CRM AI Assistant is a Chrome extension that opens beside Zoho CRM. Tell it what you want to do in plain language, and it works with your CRM for you. Try Plus free for 14 days, then stay on Free forever.

the problem

A CFO joined the call, and the deal still lists one contact

Procurement or finance has entered the deal, and they will be the ones who sign. The deal still shows only the person you started with. When someone else picks up the deal, or when the contract goes out, nobody knows who has the final word.

the solution

Name the person and the role. Approve.

Open the deal, or name it, and say who joined and in what role:

Their CFO Daniel Brooks joined the call and will sign off. Add him to the Warehouse renewal deal as Decision Maker and add a note.

The assistant searches Contacts on the deal’s account for the person. If it finds them, it uses that contact; if not, it proposes a new contact under the account with the name and title you gave.

Nothing is written until you approve. Then it links the contact to the deal with that contact role, and adds a note on the deal with what you said. Other contacts on the deal keep their roles.

  • Reads Contacts, the deal and its current contact roles.
  • Writes one contact if needed, one contact role link and one note, after you approve.
  • The contact role must already exist in your org; it does not create new roles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it read and write?

It reads the deal, its current contact roles and the contacts on the deal's account. It writes a new contact only if none matches, a link between the contact and the deal with the contact role you named, and one note on the deal. Nothing until you approve.

What if the role I name does not exist?

The link needs a contact role your org already has. If the name does not match one, the link fails and it tells you, so you can name another. It does not create contact roles; an admin adds those in Zoho CRM’s settings.

Will it change the other contacts on the deal?

No. Existing contacts and their roles stay as they are. If the person is already linked with a different role, it shows the current role and proposes the change for you to approve.

Can it be wrong?

It can match the wrong contact when two people share a name, or miss one whose name is spelled differently. Check the contact on the approval card, especially its account and email, before you approve.

Will it work on my Zoho CRM edition?

It needs a Zoho CRM edition and user profile with API access, and it can only do what your profile is allowed to do. This use case has not been checked edition by edition yet, so write to us if you want to check yours first.
