Record why a deal was lost in Zoho CRM

The Zoho CRM AI Assistant sets a deal to Closed Lost with the reason you give, in the loss reason field if your org has one, adds a note with the detail and completes its open tasks if you ask. It writes all of it once you approve.

Zoho CRM AI Assistant is a Chrome extension that opens beside Zoho CRM. Tell it what you want to do in plain language, and it works with your CRM for you. Try Plus free for 14 days, then stay on Free forever.

the problem

Deals get lost, and nobody can say why later

The client said no on a call. The rep moves the deal to Closed Lost, if anyone does, and the reason stays in their head. Six months later the team wants to know how many deals were lost on price, and the CRM has a stage and nothing else.

the solution

Give the reason. Approve the close.

Name the deal, or open it and click "Use this page", and say why it was lost:

Mark Pilot extension as Closed Lost. Reason is price, they went with a cheaper tool. Add a note and complete its open tasks.

The assistant reads the deal and checks whether your org has a loss reason field and what options it allows. It proposes:

  • Stage set to Closed Lost.
  • The loss reason field, if your org has one, set to the option that matches what you said.
  • A note on the deal with your detail, in your words.
  • Open tasks on the deal marked completed, if you asked for it.

Nothing is written until you approve. It does not decide the reason; it records the one you give.

  • Reads the deal, its fields and picklist options, and its open tasks.
  • Writes the stage, loss reason, one note and task status, only after you approve.
  • If no option fits your reason, it says so and puts the reason in the note only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it decide the loss reason?

No. You give the reason. If your org’s loss reason field has a fixed list of options, it proposes the one that matches your words and shows it on the card, so you can pick another.

What if my org has no loss reason field?

Then it records the reason in the note on the deal and sets the stage. It does not create a loss reason field unless you ask for one in a separate request, and your profile allows it.

What does it write to my CRM?

Stage, the loss reason field if there is one, one note, and the status of the deal’s open tasks if you ask. All only after you approve. Open tasks are marked completed, not deleted, so they stay in the deal’s history. Contacts and the account are not changed.

What does it read?

The deal you name, its fields and the options of its loss reason field, and its open tasks. The reason itself comes from what you type; it does not read calls or emails for it.

Can it be wrong?

It can match your words to the wrong picklist option, for example "budget" to "Price" when your org has a separate "No budget" option. Check the value on the card before you approve.

Will it work on my Zoho CRM edition?

It needs a Zoho CRM edition and user profile with API access, and it can only do what your profile is allowed to do. This use case has not been checked edition by edition yet, so write to us if you want to check yours first.
